A Day at AHM
No two students follow the same schedule.
But a day at AHM usually includes welcome routines, learning, communication, movement, creating, connecting, practicing daily-living skills, exploring the campus and community, preparing for what comes next, and celebrating.
Groups and activities
Groups & activities
Dance with the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company
AHM students and the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company explore movement and self-expression together all year long, ending with a spring performance for families.
Special Olympics
Our Special Olympians compete in three events a year, bowling, basketball, and track and field, with training built into adapted physical education.
Adapted Aquatics
Swimming at the John J. Moore Fitness Center pool on the Kean Jersey City campus.
Key Club
Key Club is an international, student-led service organization. Our secondary students serve the community and build leadership skills throughout the year.
Moore Variety Club
A stage for every student to perform, in the way that works for them.
Prom and celebrations. The annual AHM Prom is the highlight of the year for our secondary students, their families, staff and community friends: an evening of glitz, glamour, music and dancing. The year also brings Grad Walk, preschool, middle school and high school graduations, and our dance performance.
Only Make Believe
Only Make Believe brings free, interactive theatre to AHM every year. Every student in the audience helps create a world of fantasy and fun, and we are grateful for the time OMB spends with our students.
